Great place for a good carvery. Second visit. First visit we booked but booking didn't show up on their list & had to wait quite a while. Second visit no booking and straight in (both Sunday's) Lovely staff & food always hot with a great choice. Reasonably priced for a Sunday. We will definitely be back!

I have to say we, my family and I, frequent the Racecourse because it is an ideal place to go with kids and have good food with excellent service. With the in and outdoor play areas the kids are amused for hours while the adults can sit together. We are big fans of the carvery on a Sunday which with a desert costs about 20 and it is really good value for money with its choice of meats and veggies and for the 2 small kids we get the highchair bowls for a pound. The food is top quality and all staff members are always friendly and professional. It can get a bit busy but the wait isn't ever too long. Highly recommend!

Really delicious carvery. The chef was on loan from The Wherry Hotel and the food was excellent. All kept warm with covers to stop the veg drying. All the food was lovely, the mashed potato and butchers sausages stood out as excellent. All for 11.95 which is a bargain price in November 2024.

Great to visit another "castle carvery" and was interested to see how it compared to others I had been to. Firstly I want to say how busy it was, and how remarkably well the staff appeared to cope and manage. It appeared to be a popular place but also had a very "local" feel to it, with again the staff knowing their customers and the way they interacted with them. I needed something quick so did opt for the carvery for simplicity- which again seemed a popular choice. Quite often with a carvery, food can either be undercooked or over cooked, but credit to the chefs as it was all cooked to a high standard. I'm glad I visited as I was passing, and I will probably visit again when that way. For those with children, there was an outside park, and I believe it has a soft play, but today I was dining on my own and wasn't appropriate to take photos where children were for obvious reasons. Plenty of parking spaces. I got to wish a very spritley 80 year old man a happy birthday too.

Been couple of times in the last year but yesterday was for a special occasion to celebrate a 90th birthday. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. We were allowed to decorate with balloons, banners etc although we kept it simple. Great service, fantastic food and good selection of vegetarian options. Only thing was where we were positioned, for a group of almost 20 we were between the bar and the main dining room which is the main thoroughfare of the venue. We could've done with a slightly quieter spot to accommodate the elderly people in our group in wheelchairs etc from the vast amount of people coming through with trays of drinks and children running around. It didn't dampen the day or the atmosphere we made it what it was.

Was very crowded but luckily we’d booked, so got our table and ordered fairly quickly. Queue for carvery was ok and the meat was lovely as was rest of food. Quite noisy and busy but we had a great meal and a good time. Service was good, staff were friendly and helpful.
